Couran Cove Resort
Couran Cove Resort
is one of several resort centres on the western side of South
Stradbroke Island. It is a popular getaway for residents of
the Gold Coast and surrounding areas. South Stradbroke Island
is known for its surf beaches, fishing and walks. More recently,
it has gained increasing popularity as a tourist destination
following the construction of the Couran Cove Resort. Couran
Point and Couran Cove are side by side each other and located
approximately 15 minutes by boat (ferry) from Runaway Bay
on the mainland. The property is situated on a manmade canal
within the Couran Point residential development. It has deep
water access to the Gold Coast Broadwater and the Pacific
Ocean. Couran Cove has limited facilities. All access is by
boat or landing barge only.
Couran Point Resort

Couran Point is
a multi-lot canal and dry block estate which adjoins Couran
Point Resort. Couran Point Resort is one of several resort
centers on the western side of South Stradbroke Island. It

fishing and walks. More recently, it has gained increasing
popularity as a tourist destination following the construction
of the nearby Couran Cove Resort. Couran Point and Couran

North and South Currigee
North and South
Currigee comprise a cluster of beach houses located towards
the southern end of South Stradbroke Island. "Both North
and South Currigee" front the western coastal esplanade
of South Stradbroke Island and have direct access to "the
Broadwater", being the waterway separating the Mainland
(northern Gold Coast) and South Stradbroke Island. North and
South Currigee are located approximately 15 minutes by boat
from Runaway Bay Marina on the mainland. Apart from those
within the tourist resorts of Couran Point and Couran Cove,
South Stradbroke Island has no bitumen roads and all vehicular
access is by 4 wheel drive only. South Stradbroke Island has
no facilities. Owners must be responsible to bring all items,
including building materials etc from the mainland.
In line with other
locations, the real estate on South Stradbroke Island took
a hit during the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, bottoming
out in mid-2011. Values on South Straddie continue to remain
fairly level. The Banking sector made investment difficult
with higher than usual loan to valuation ratios. Despite this,
people continue to invest. During the spectacular value rises
of 2002 to 2007 South Straddie was initially slow to get going,
but once it did, it also saw very respectable capital appreciation.
Very tightly held, Currigee is a lifestyle, even more than
it is an investment.
